LuaJIT is worth a look. I know people have got it going under iOS, and even if there's no JIT the hand-rolled assembly implementation is going to give a good speedup. And another thing: LuaJIT bytecode is _not_ platform dependent.

Love this. I was really worried you had abandoned missions of the reliant (and from the look of it, the blog), but I wouldn't let myself believe that you would have come so far only to stop. For the first time in almost a year, I can sleep easy.

Nice work, Gwynne! Thank you.
Thanks also to Brian.
Note to visitors: when copying Brian's amended code, ensure you fix up the quotes around the zeroes - some may become back-quotes when copied from a browser.

The licensing information is at the bottom of this page, where it has been for years. There's nothing stopping you as far as licensing is concerned:

http://alexgorbatchev.com/SyntaxHighlighter/about.html

"License
You may use any SyntaxHighlighter project under the terms of either the MIT License or the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 3.

The MIT License is recommended for most projects. It is simple and easy to understand and it places almost no restrictions on what you can do with a SyntaxHighlighter project.

If the GPL suits your project better you are also free to use a SyntaxHighlighter project under that license.

You don’t have to do anything special to choose one license or the other and you don’t have to notify anyone which license you are using. You are free to use a SyntaxHighlighter project in commercial projects as long as the copyright header is left intact."

hey - I'd love to see your PCRE project. I'm writing a DSP application for iOS using Lua - so running bytecode might be more efficient than the Lua interpreter.

thanks - Jonah

I have created a Pygments for WordPress plugin that does not depend on an external web service:

http://derek.simkowiak.net/pygments-for-wordpress/

It works by running the "pygmentize" command locally on the server.

I agree, I don't mind some changes to the original, especially if it modernizes it a bit. New missions would be great as well. My only concern is that you may not get past 1 and 2, sounds like tough work!
